The Kendall School for the Deaf Opens

*This date in 1952 celebrates the integration of Schools for Black deaf children.  Segregation was also prevalent within the American deaf community in general.

That year Miller vs. Board of Education was filed in the United States District Court for the District of Columbia, forcing the integration of Kendall Elementary School for the deaf located on the Gallaudet University campus.
