Faubourg Tremé was the oldest Black neighborhood in New Orleans, Louisiana. Located north of the French Quarter, it was home to the first civil rights movement, the first Black daily newspaper, L'Union, Black businesses, and more.
Other landmarks include Congo Square and Saint Augustine Church. Despite its rich and important history, the neighborhood is often left out of history books.
