Coahoma Community College
*Coahoma Community College (CCC) is celebrated on this date in 1924. It is a public historically black community college (HBCU).
It is located in unincorporated Coahoma County, Mississippi. The 99-acre (400,000 m2) campus lies in an agrarian setting along Clarksdale-Friars Point Road near the Mississippi River. The administration of CCC also operates Coahoma Early College High School (formerly Coahoma Agricultural High School). In addition to Coahoma County, the district considers Bolivar, Quitman, Tallahatchie, and Tunica counties in-district. Its service area was established on July 1, 1995.
The following residence halls serve the student body:
Friends Residence Hall (for men): It has a capacity of 122 students. It was built in 1983, and 2006 received renovation work.
McKinley C. Martin Residence Hall (for women): The two-story building has a capacity of 56 students. It was named after the third president of CCC and was constructed in 2014.
Sezzie McLaurin Residence Hall (for women): It has a capacity of 52 students. Named after the wife of CCC's first president, it is a two-story building built in the 1983-1984 school year.
George W. Moore Residence Hall (for men & women): It is a two-story building built in 2002. It was named after a CCC administrator and teacher and has a capacity of 120.
Two buildings are located away from the main campus: the Robert G. “Brick” Mason Health Sciences Building in Clarksdale and the Ned Gathwright Workforce Development Center, adjacent to the Clarksdale city limits.
Coahoma Community College is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award the Associate of Arts degree, the Associate of Applied Science degree, and certificates in career education.
The Coahoma Community College athletic teams are the Tigers, and their colors are maroon and white.
